Paint Protection Film VS Ceramic Coating

Many nano-ceramic detailers claim that ceramic coating is the ultimate solution for protecting your vehicle. However, the reality is that it doesn’t address every concern.

At Auto Bliss, we believe in educating our customers so they can make informed decisions about what’s best for their vehicle.

Here’s a clear breakdown of the true benefits and differences between paint protection film and ceramic coating.

CERAMIC COATING

Feynlab’s Ceramic Coating is designed for extreme durability, chemical resistance, and
hydrophobic protection. Unlike the self-healing version, it does not have scratch-repairing
properties, but it bonds at a molecular level to create a hard, protective layer over your
vehicle’s paint. This makes it highly resistant to UV rays, oxidation, water spots, and
chemical contaminants like bird droppings, acid rain, and road salts. It also enhances the
gloss and shine of your vehicle, making maintenance easier by preventing dirt and grime from
sticking to the surface.

  • Long-lasting durability with strong chemical resistance
  • Hydrophobic properties make cleaning effortless
  • Shields against UV damage, oxidation, and environmental contaminants
  • Utilizes nano-ceramic particles that bond at a molecular level to create a hard, durable
    protective layer over the paint.
  • Create an ultra-durable shield against UV rays, oxidation, and chemical contaminants.

SELF HEALING

Feynlab’s Self-Heal Technology is an advanced coating that can repair minor scratches and
swirl marks with the application of heat (such as sunlight or warm water). This innovative
feature allows the coating to “heal” itself over time, keeping your vehicle’s paint in
pristine condition. It’s ideal for car owners who want extra protection against daily wear
and tear, especially those who frequently wash their car or drive in environments where
micro-scratches are common.

  • Repairs minor scratches & swirl marks with heat exposure
  • Provides a smooth, flawless paint finish for longer
  • Enhances gloss while maintaining a self-restoring surface
  • High Finish Gloss & Super Hydrophobic Surface, causing water to instantly release off
    the surface
  • Scratch resistance and Healing Capability from micro defects and light swirl marks
  • Intense levels of UV and heat protection.

    FAQ

    FAQ

    • What is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic Coating is a liquid polymer applied to a vehicle’s exterior that bonds with the paint to create a durable, protective layer. At AutoBliss, we use FEYNLAB Ceramic Coatings, including Self-Healing Ceramic, Ceramic, and Ceramic Ultra, to provide industry-leading protection and performance.

    • Should I install Ceramic Coating or Paint Protection Film (PPF) first?

If you’re choosing between the two, we recommend Ceramic Coating for full vehicle coverage and the best value for cost. However, if you’re opting for both (which we highly recommend), PPF should always be installed first. This is because applying Ceramic Coating before PPF would prevent the film from properly adhering to the surface. By installing the coating on top of the film, you not only ensure proper adhesion but also extend the lifespan of the PPF, adding extra protection and durability for years to come.

    • Can I wash my car daily with a Ceramic Coating? Will it damage the coating?

Yes, you can wash your car daily, but using the right washing techniques is crucial to maintain the integrity of your FEYNLAB Ceramic Coating. The coating is designed to be highly durable, but improper washing methods—such as automatic car washes with abrasive brushes or harsh chemicals—can gradually degrade its hydrophobic and protective properties. For best results: - Use a pH-neutral car shampoo to avoid stripping the coating. - Opt for touchless or hand washes to prevent swirl marks. - Avoid harsh detergents and automatic car washes with stiff brushes. When maintained properly, your Ceramic Coating will continue to provide long-lasting protection, gloss, and ease of cleaning without being compromised by frequent washing.

    • How long does Ceramic Coating last?

The longevity of a Ceramic Coating depends on the product used, environmental conditions, and maintenance. At AutoBliss, we use FEYNLAB Ceramic Coatings, which offer different levels of durability: • FEYNLAB Ceramic – Lasts 1 to 3 years with proper care. • FEYNLAB Ceramic Ultra – Provides up to 5 years of protection. • FEYNLAB Self-Healing Ceramic – Offers 5+ years of protection with self-healing properties. To maximize the lifespan of your coating, regular maintenance is essential. Proper washing techniques, routine inspections, and occasional top-ups can help preserve its performance, ensuring your vehicle stays protected and looking pristine for years to come.

    • What is the difference between Ceramic Coating and Wax?

Both Ceramic Coating and wax enhance and protect your vehicle’s paint, but they differ significantly in durability, performance, and protection level. 1. Durability • Wax: Lasts a few weeks to a couple of months before needing reapplication. • Ceramic Coating: Bonds with the paint and lasts years, with FEYNLAB Ceramic Coatings offering 1 to 5+ years of protection. 2. Protection • Wax: Provides a temporary barrier against UV rays and contaminants but wears off quickly. • Ceramic Coating: Offers long-term protection against UV damage, oxidation, stains, and chemicals while being highly hydrophobic. 3. Water & Dirt Repellency • Wax: Repels water initially but wears off, requiring frequent reapplication. • Ceramic Coating: Provides superior hydrophobic properties, making water, dirt, and contaminants slide off effortlessly. 4. Scratch & Chemical Resistance • Wax: No significant scratch or chemical resistance. • Ceramic Coating: Adds a hardened layer that resists minor scratches and chemical contaminants better than wax. 5. Shine & Gloss • Wax: Gives a warm, deep shine but fades over time. • Ceramic Coating: Provides long-lasting gloss and depth, maintaining a “just-detailed” look for years. Bottom Line: If you’re looking for temporary shine and protection, wax is a good option. However, if you want long-term durability, hydrophobicity, and superior protection, FEYNLAB Ceramic Coating is the better investment for your vehicle.

    • Will Ceramic Coating prevent water spots and tree sap?

Ceramic Coating provides excellent protection against contaminants like water spots and tree sap, but it does not make your vehicle completely immune to them. • Water Spots: The hydrophobic properties of FEYNLAB Ceramic Coatings help water bead up and roll off the surface, reducing the chances of water spots. However, if water droplets are left to dry in the sun, they may still leave behind mineral deposits. Regular maintenance and drying your car after washes can help prevent this. • Tree Sap: The coating creates a chemical-resistant layer that makes it harder for sap to bond to the paint, making cleanup much easier. However, if sap is left on the surface for too long, it can still cause staining. Prompt removal is recommended to avoid any damage. While Ceramic Coating significantly reduces the risk and makes cleaning effortless, routine maintenance is still important to keep your car in top condition.

    • What happens if my car gets scratched after applying Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic Coating provides a protective layer that makes your vehicle more resistant to minor scratches and swirl marks, but it does not make your car scratch-proof. If your car does get scratched, the outcome depends on the severity of the scratch and the type of Ceramic Coating applied. 1. Light Scratches & Swirl Marks • With FEYNLAB Self-Healing Ceramic Coating, minor scratches can self-heal when exposed to heat (sunlight, warm water, or a heat gun). This advanced technology allows the coating to return to its original smooth state over time. • Standard Ceramic Coatings (FEYNLAB Ceramic & Ceramic Ultra) will not self-heal, but they provide a harder surface that reduces the likelihood of minor scratches occurring. 2. Deep Scratches • If the scratch penetrates the Ceramic Coating and clear coat, it will require paint correction or touch-up repair, just like an uncoated car. • The benefit of Ceramic Coating is that it absorbs some of the impact, meaning the damage might be less severe than on an unprotected surface. While Ceramic Coating helps reduce the chances of light scratches, it is not a replacement for Paint Protection Film, which offers impact resistance. For maximum protection, we recommend combining PPF for high-impact areas and FEYNLAB Ceramic Coating for long-term durability and gloss.
